What I Talk about When I Talk about Running by Haruki Murakami
What I Talk about When I Talk about Running by Haruki Murakami
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
What a great book. It was nice to read about a writer who is also a marathon runner and a writer. Keep me going through the whole book. Can’t wait to read something else by him.
Got Me a Kindle for Christmas
Got me a Kindle for Christmas. I had stopped reading books. First, because it was because I was holding the books farther and farther away. So, I finally got smart enough to see the eye doctor this summer. He told me, ‘Duh Dude, You are getting old!’ Okay, he said it nicer and more of medical way of doing it, but that’s how it fell out. Then I could never get use not to the reading glasses. I’m not vain because I got plenty of gray hair now, but I couldn’t get comfortable or I would leave the glasses at home and so on and so forth…
So, my wise wise wife Sherry got me a Kindle for Christmas, and I can change the font at my leisure. Bigger…Smaller…That simple act…That brilliant tool…That’s all it took. Now I am reading.
My daughter, who is home for Christmas (yeah!) accidentally bought American Gods by Neil Gaiman when she was playing with it (looking at it). And instead of erasing it, I am a believer in serendipity, I told her no worries, and that is the first book that I am fated to read on my new Kindle.
Thanks to my wife, to my daughter, to Amazon, to my failing eyes, I am reading again.
Pictures From MileHiCon and Chicago
Here are some pictures from my reading at Mile Hi Con in Denver last weekend, and another at MILLENNIUM PARK in Chicago. It was good to see my kid. Apparently, I need to get another jacket. Sorry, it has been cold.
Two Things: Mile Hi Con and the Mad Cow Books Podcast
First Night’s Panel at MileHiCon was interesting when an argument broke out in the audience, and two audience members started to call each other idiots. I am back at the convention on Sunday, hopefully things will have settled down by then. I will be back and I have a reading on Sunday. I will most likely be reading ‘Eating Acrylic Pancakes…’
Also, I messed up the Mad Cow Books Podcast. I wasn’t happy and pulled off all of the previous episodes, which caused problems for my host site and iTunes. So you’ll need to go back to your podcatcher if you want it again, but as a bonus I released episode three early and it is a good one. I promise.
Two New Books That I’m Reading
Here are two new books that I am reading.
The first is Andrea Lee’s Lost Hearts In Italy. If you haven’t read her she is a rock star of a writer, and I’m looking forward to reading this one. Her short stories always give an outsider’s view of romantic/exotic places that sometimes we foreigners just don’t see and sometimes we just don’t understand.
I have never read any of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, and I am looking forward to reading this one The Hound of the Baskervilles. I am ready to go along with Holmes on his adventure into the dark moor.
